The Bible API uses public domain and licensed biblical texts.

Public Domain Texts

Most translations available through The Bible API are in the public domain. These texts are free to use, modify, and redistribute without restriction or attribution requirement.

Licensed Translations

A small number of translations are distributed under open Creative Commons licenses. These translations are grouped below by license type along with a short explanation of their terms.

Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0)

Attribution is required. You may use, modify, and redistribute these texts as long as appropriate credit is given. Modifications must be indicated when required.

  • Usage: free to view and copy without restriction
