Privacy Policy
The Bible API is a free, public developer API. This page explains what limited information we collect and how it is handled.
Overview
The Bible API is a free, public REST API designed for developers. There are no user accounts, no sign-ups, and no API keys. Because of this, data collection is kept to the minimum required to operate and maintain the service.
Information We Collect
- Contact form submissions. If you use the contact page, we receive the name, email address, and message you provide. This is handled by Netlify Forms.
- Basic request and log data. Like most web services, our hosting provider records standard request metadata - for example IP address, user agent, referrer, request path, and timestamp - for operational and security purposes.
How Data Is Used
- To respond to messages submitted through the contact form.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the API and website.
- To monitor performance, reliability, and abuse patterns (for example, unusual traffic spikes).
Third-Party Services
The site and API are hosted on Netlify, which provides our hosting, serverless functions, and contact form handling. Standard Netlify logs and form submissions are subject to Netlify's own privacy practices.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with advertisers or third parties. Contact form submissions are used only to reply to your message.
Data Retention
Contact messages and request logs are retained only for as long as is reasonably necessary to operate the service, respond to inquiries, and diagnose issues. Anything no longer needed is removed in the normal course of maintenance.
